PRESS RELEASE - RECORD HIGH NUMBER OF VISITORS AT MALÁ INVENTURA

17th year of Malá inventura has just finished. 9-day new theatre festival has featured 57 performances on 20 Prague scenes. The festival was visited by a record number of 5 000 visitors.

“This year’s Malá inventura was exceptional in its range. The programme has been twice as big than over the past years. Thanks to a new festival section PRALIN we managed to deepen the cooperation with foreign countries, we connected the Prague and Berlin theatre scenes. There have been 150 guests from 17 countries,” says Petr Pola, Art Director.

Every year, Malá inventura brings the best of new theatre both to public and theatre professionals. “We aim to connect theatre professionals and promoters, we inspire them to cooperate,” says Mr. Pola. “This year, the section New blood on the stage was a great success. This section features starting artists and students. There was a great interest in Šírání čirého jasného dne by Nina Jacques, Zápisky z volných chvil by Anna Klimešová or a horror based on the fairy tale of Hansel and Gretel by director Rufina Bázlová named J+M. This performance is very likely going to be presented in regional theatres,” says Mr. Pola.

“Even though Malá inventura has just finished, many new things are just beginning. Within the framework of the programme for professionals, interesting new cooperation started appearing. This is also an important aim of the festival,” says Adriana Světlíková, Director of Malá inventura.

The viewers liked the most the poetic “laser show” called Žlutá tma by Petr Nikl. The viewers also very much liked the game keeper romance Lov by groups Bratři v tricku and Holektiv or the performance Pravda o 17. Listopadu by art group 11:55.

In the section Migratory birds (art professionals who do not have permanent scene), viewers were interested the most in a performance for children called Poutníci po hvězdách by Hana Strejčková or a performance Rain dance by group Handa Gote which has been renewed after ten years.

This year's rich programme also offered twenty accompanying programme events, including children’s art workshops, led by stage designer Marianna Stránská.

The main organizer of the festival is the cultural organisation Nová síť, which provides training in the field of non-profit organizations. It systematically educates the public in the form of workshops, realizes the PRALIN project which develops the cultural cooperation between Prague and Berlin.
Nová síť is also the organizer of new theatre festival Malá inventura in regions. It is going to be held in Jičín, Jihlava, České Budějovice and Opava in autumn (ww.novasit.cz).
