THE EUROPEAN SPARSE PLUS PROJECT

The SPARSE Plus project, which builds on the successful SPARSE project, focuses on building know-how and supporting the staging of quality arts events in rural areas and rural communities. The project builds on EU research and statistics which show that 30% of the European population lives in rural areas and access to cultural services is disproportionately more difficult than in larger conurbations.

The SPARSE Plus project started in 2023 and will run until 2027. Nová síť, together with 11 other partners from 9 European countries, will stage 150 performances by 45 arts companies in 50 rural villages. The 5-year project also includes a live and digital mentoring programme for promoters and artists, 2 meetings (for 120 representatives of professional artists and promoters from rural areas) and an international conference on the issue of marketing the arts in rural areas, which will take place in Prague in autumn 2025. The European SPARSE Plus project also includes a research component, which is divided into four parts: an evaluation, two researches and a follow-up advocacy.

Promoters and promoters are an integral part of the whole project. They will present selected performances in their organisations, which will be part of a local as well as an international tour. There are also professional seminars for them and of course networking and exchange of know how with other promoters from 8 other countries.

The following promoters were selected for the Nová síť: Kateřina Bohadlová – Theatrum Kuks, Kateřina Šobáňová – Švestkový Dvůr, Pavel Kubaník – Kulturák, Markéta Málková – REZI.DANCE Komařice, Terezie Lacmanová – Valdštejnské imaginárium.
