Code of Ecological Conduct of Nová síť

29. 8. 2025

Nová síť is committed to a responsible and sustainable approach in the workplace. Our Ecological Conduct summarizes the specific principles that guide us in our daily operations, in organizing events, and in our partnerships. We believe that even small changes—from the careful use of energy and waste, to sustainable mobility, to conscious digital practices—can have a long-term impact.

Code of Ecological Conduct of Nová síť

As a cultural organization working with the values of openness, responsibility, and sustainability, we are aware of our impact – whether it concerns office operations, the organization of cultural events, or partnership collaborations.
This code summarizes the principles and specific measures we follow at Nová síť – and also serves as basic guidance for new colleagues, collaborators, artists, and partner organizations.

1. Everyday Operations

• We use environmentally friendly cleaning products and eco trash bags.

• We only print when really necessary – materials are circulated meaningfully (e.g., if they pass through at least five hands).

• The office is equipped with motion sensors for lights – we only light spaces where and when it’s needed, using energy-efficient fixtures.

• We maintain an optimal office temperature in winter – we don’t overheat, we have insulated windows, and we ventilate reasonably.

• We avoid using air conditioning; when possible, appliances are set to energy-saving modes.

• We separate waste, save water, and minimize plastic and disposable packaging.

• We think and act locally – food and coffee in the office are fair-trade and organic, directly from farmers.

2. Digital Operations and Content

• We create digital content intentionally – we do not generate unnecessary images, videos, or AI-based visualizations due to their high energy and water consumption.

• Files are labeled as “in-progress” during work; after a project ends, we delete them (we do not store unlimited data).

• We keep our cloud storage organized – emails and documents are deleted after projects end.

• We don’t overload the internet or ourselves – we avoid streaming videos or content without meaningful purpose.

3. Sustainable Mobility

• We don’t travel alone by car – only when transporting people or materials.

• We prefer trains or buses over cars and airplanes (both domestically and internationally).

• We consider online participation when it makes sense environmentally and production-wise.

4. Production and Collaboration

• We choose partners and suppliers who respect sustainability.

• We use local services and materials, recycle materials and equipment whenever possible.

• We prefer vegetarian catering or local seasonal produce.

• When printing, we use recycled or FSC-certified paper, and we print reasonably and in small quantities.

5. Long-Term Approaches and Improvement

• For each major event, we ask: “What will its environmental impact be and how can we reduce it?”

• We introduce short “eco-briefs” for productions (waste, transport, suppliers).

• Each year, we carry out an internal reflection: “Where could we have been more considerate?”

6. Sharing Values

• We share the code with all team members, collaborators, and guests.

• We lead an open dialogue about environmental responsibility in culture.

• We follow new approaches and take inspiration from good practices of partners in the Czech Republic and abroad.
